Tea tree oil has been used for many things because of its extreme versatility. Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-fungal, and anti-viral making it a remedy for almost any skin concern. Tea tree can be strong for some skin types so it is important to do a patch test before applying it on the skin.

To perform a patch test, you need to:

  1. Find the best area on your skin to apply the tea tree oil. A patch test works best in an area that folds so behind the ears, knees, or elbows would be ideal
  2. Place the tea tree in this area and let it sit for about 8 hours.
  3. Go back and check the spot in which you’ve placed the tea tree oil if it is red, bumpy, or irritated you may need to dilute your formula with a carrier oil.

If your patch test produced normal results you can now get rid of your skin tag using tea tree oil.

  1. Locate your skin tag and cleanse the area. Do not run your skin tag too profusely, doing so may result in an injury.
  2. Be sure to dry the skin to ensure bacteria does not form.
  3. If you have time for multiple treatments throughout the day, use a q-tip to apply the formula. You may repeat this step up to 3 times per day.
  4. If you are a busy bee like most of us there is no time to apply tea tree oil more than once. If this is your situation try saturating a cotton ball in tea tree and securing it with a Band-Aid. This method allows the tea tree to slowly disperse into the skin throughout your day.
